QNu Labs raises ₹200 crore in Series A1 funding for quantum-safe cybersecurity

Bengaluru, September 9, 2026: QNu Labs, an India-based deep-tech cybersecurity company focused on quantum-safe solutions, has raised ₹200 crore in a Series A1 funding round led by the National Quantum Mission and Speciale Invest. The round also saw participation from Sony Innovation Fund, Gaja Capital and Artha Ventures, among other investors.

The latest investment takes QNu Labs’ total capital raised to ₹375 crore, marking a significant milestone for the company as it looks to expand its quantum-safe cybersecurity technology across India and international markets.

The funding comes at a time when governments and enterprises are increasingly preparing for the potential impact of quantum computing on existing encryption systems. As organisations assess their long-term cybersecurity strategies, quantum-safe cryptography and related technologies are emerging as important components of future digital infrastructure.

QNu Labs to Accelerate Quantum-Safe Technology Development

QNu Labs plans to use the fresh capital to accelerate its research and development, strengthen its technology capabilities and expand sales and go-to-market operations across India and global markets.

A portion of the funding will also serve as QNu Labs’ contribution towards an approved project funded under RDI to build the technology backbone of India’s Quantum Secure and Sensing Networks (IQSN).

The company also plans to broaden its quantum-safe technology stack by expanding into areas such as quantum sensing and artificial intelligence, while increasing deployments across critical sectors.

With organisations worldwide beginning to evaluate migration towards technologies designed to withstand future quantum-related threats, QNu Labs aims to position itself as an Indian technology provider capable of addressing the emerging global cybersecurity requirement.

National Quantum Mission and Global Investors Back QNu Labs

The latest funding round reflects increasing investor interest in India’s deep-tech and quantum technology ecosystem.

Along with the National Quantum Mission and Speciale Invest, the round includes Sony Innovation Fund, Gaja Capital and Artha Ventures. The participation of international and domestic investors highlights growing confidence in India’s ability to develop deep-tech products for global markets.

According to QNu Labs Co-founder Sunil Gupta, India has moved early in preparing for the quantum era, while the National Quantum Mission has helped establish the foundation for quantum technology development and adoption.

Gupta said QNu Labs has spent more than a decade developing its technology stack and has already deployed its solutions across government, critical infrastructure and BFSI environments.

He also highlighted the international interest in the latest funding round, noting that approximately 80% of the round came from new investors globally, which the company views as a strong indication of growing global confidence in quantum-safe cybersecurity.

Gaja Capital Sees Quantum-Safe Security as Critical Infrastructure

Gaja Capital Co-founder and Managing Partner Gopal Jain said quantum-safe security is increasingly becoming an important part of national and digital infrastructure.

According to Jain, QNu Labs’ decade-long focus on quantum-safe technology and its deployments across government, critical infrastructure and BFSI were among the factors behind the investment.

The investment also comes as India’s institutional investors increasingly look towards deep-tech businesses capable of building technologies with applications beyond the domestic market.

Speciale Invest Continues Its Backing

Vishesh Rajaram, Managing Partner, Speciale Invest, said the firm first backed QNu Labs five years ago based on its belief that quantum-safe security would eventually move from research environments into mainstream commercial applications.

With governments and businesses globally preparing for the quantum era, Speciale Invest sees the latest phase as an opportunity for QNu Labs to scale its technology and strengthen its position in international markets.

The continued investment also demonstrates Speciale Invest’s long-term confidence in QNu Labs’ technology and its potential to become a global quantum-safe cybersecurity company.

National Quantum Mission Highlights India’s Quantum Ambitions

Ravindra Barlingay, CEO of IITM C-DOT Samgnya Technologies Foundation, said sovereignty in the quantum era would depend on technologies that countries can build, secure and trust domestically.

As the National Hub for Quantum Communication under the National Quantum Mission, Samgnya has participated in the investment round as part of efforts to strengthen India’s quantum technology capabilities.

The development comes as India seeks to establish itself as a significant player in quantum communication, quantum security and other emerging quantum technologies.

Sony Innovation Fund Backs India’s Quantum Cybersecurity Opportunity

Yoko Fukata, Director and Head of Sony Ventures India, Sony Innovation Fund, said the fund is actively investing in India’s deep-tech ecosystem.

Sony Innovation Fund’s investment in QNu Labs adds an international technology investor to the company’s latest funding round.

The investment is expected to support QNu Labs as it scales its quantum-safe cybersecurity solutions and explores opportunities in global markets.

Why Quantum-Safe Cybersecurity Is Becoming Important

Quantum computers are expected to introduce new challenges for conventional cryptographic systems. While large-scale, cryptographically relevant quantum computing remains an evolving technology area, governments and enterprises are increasingly considering the time required to identify, test and deploy new security systems.

This has increased interest in post-quantum cryptography, quantum key distribution and broader quantum-safe cybersecurity strategies.

For organisations managing sensitive financial, government, healthcare, defence or critical infrastructure data, transitioning security systems can be a complex long-term process.

QNu Labs is positioning its technology around this emerging transition, with a focus on helping organisations adopt quantum-safe infrastructure without disrupting existing business operations.

QNu Labs’ Decade-Long Quantum Technology Journey

QNu Labs was incubated at IIT Madras in 2016 and was founded by Srinivasa Rao Aluri and Sunil Gupta.

The company describes itself as a pioneer in India’s quantum-secure digital infrastructure and has developed products and solutions focused on quantum-safe cybersecurity, cryptography and communication.

According to the company, its solutions have been deployed by clients to protect critical infrastructure, while its technology portfolio includes patented and certified products designed for high-security environments.

QNu Labs currently has a team of around 160 engineers, physicists and mathematicians working on quantum cryptography, communication and related technologies.

₹375 Crore Total Funding Marks New Phase for QNu Labs

The ₹200 crore Series A1 round takes QNu Labs’ cumulative capital raised to ₹375 crore.

The company plans to use the funding to transition from its early technology-building phase towards larger-scale commercial adoption. Its strategy includes expanding R&D, increasing deployments, entering additional technology segments and strengthening its international go-to-market capabilities.

As global organisations prepare for the potential cybersecurity implications of quantum computing, QNu Labs believes its early investment in quantum-safe technologies gives it an opportunity to help drive the next generation of digital security.

For India, the development also highlights the growing role of domestic deep-tech companies in building technologies that can serve both national digital-security requirements and international markets.
