Mumbai, September 11, 2026: Prime Video has unveiled the trailer for Don’t Be Shy, an upcoming young adult romantic comedy that explores friendship, first love, heartbreak, bad decisions and the unpredictable journey of growing up. The Prime Original movie is scheduled to premiere exclusively on September 25, 2026.

Written and directed by Sreeti Mukerji, the film is produced by Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt under the banner of Eternal Sunshine Productions. Grishma Shah and Vikesh Bhutani are attached as co-producers.

The movie features a fresh ensemble led by Aarushi Bajaj, Piyush Khati, Bianca Arora and Ansh Duggal, with Kunaal Roy Kapur, Anurag Basu, Neha Dhupia and Anju Alva Naik appearing in pivotal roles.

Don’t Be Shy Trailer Introduces a Complicated College Story

The trailer centres on Shyamili “Shy” Das, played by Aarushi Bajaj, a fiercely independent young woman whose carefully planned life begins to unravel following an unexpected turn of events.

As Shy attempts to regain control of her life, she finds herself caught between her feelings for Mayank, played by Piyush Khati, and her estranged childhood friend Dhruv, portrayed by Ansh Duggal.

The arrival of Tara, played by Bianca Arora, adds another unpredictable element to Shy’s already complicated world. What begins as an attempt to put everything back in order soon develops into a chaotic mix of new friendships, romantic feelings, unexpected twists and questionable choices.

The film promises to combine humour and romance with the emotional uncertainty that often accompanies the transition from adolescence to adulthood.

Sreeti Mukerji on the Story

Writer-director Sreeti Mukerji described Don’t Be Shy as a tribute to the kind of movies she grew up watching and continues to revisit for comfort and entertainment.

According to Mukerji, the film explores a period of life when young people are approaching adulthood but are still discovering who they are. At its heart, the story is about finding a way back to oneself when life becomes unpredictable.

Mukerji also expressed gratitude to Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt for supporting her vision, as well as Prime Video and the film’s young cast for helping bring the story to the screen.

Aarushi Bajaj Steps Into the Role of Shy

For Aarushi Bajaj, playing Shy presented an opportunity to portray a character very different from her own personality.

The actor described the role as both challenging and exciting, saying that stepping into Shy’s shoes pushed her outside her comfort zone. She also highlighted the responsibility she felt toward portraying the character and her journey authentically.

Bianca Arora Plays the Mysterious Tara

Bianca Arora plays Tara, a character who brings a distinctive perspective and energy to the story.

Arora said the role allowed her to explore a highly expressive side of herself on camera. She also expressed excitement about audiences finally discovering Tara and the world of Don’t Be Shy.

Ansh Duggal Makes His Film Debut

For Ansh Duggal, Don’t Be Shy marks an important milestone as his first film.

Playing Dhruv, the actor said he feels a combination of nervousness and excitement ahead of the worldwide release. He also described the opportunity to begin his film journey with the project as a memorable experience.

Piyush Khati on Playing Mayank

Piyush Khati portrays Mayank, a character with multiple layers and complexities.

Khati described understanding Mayank as both challenging and enjoyable, noting that the role allowed him to discover unexpected similarities between himself and the character.

He also highlighted the bond that developed among the four newcomers—Aarushi Bajaj, Bianca Arora, Ansh Duggal and himself—during the making of the film.
